Working At Heights

This course is designed to introduce workers to Working at Heights Equipment and Fall Prevention.  It is broken down into two Modules.  The Theory which cover foundation knowledge and The Practical which covers advanced knowledge combined with a detailed ‘Hands-On’ component..

 

Once the Working at Heights Theory has been successfully completed the Working at Heights Practical can be taken.

Course Description

 Theory Includes -

* Rights and Responsibilities.             * General Hazards.

* Hierarchy of Controls.                      * Safety Procedures.     

*Fall Prevention.                                * Barriers & Warning Methods.

* Ladders & similar equipment.           * Personal Fall Protection Equipment.

* Fall Arrest & its components.           * Written Evaluation.

 

Practical Includes –

* Briefing on Full Body Harness & components.            * ‘Hands-On’ Practical.

* Practical Evaluation.

 

The course consists of verbal and written instruction, as well as demonstration of equipment. There is a written Evaluation at the end of the Theory course and Practical Evaluation at the end of the Hands-On course.

 

The Ministry of Labour will issue a Record of Training to successful participants. Certificates will be issued from Construction Workplace Safety Training Ltd following successful completion and will be valid for three years.

The Basics of Fall Protection, if currently held, will be grandfathered until 1st April 2017.

 

Note: Workers should be given an orientation as to the hazards associated with each individual jobsite by a competent person.
