Upon successful completion of this course, the learner will:
- Be familiar with legislation when working at heights is required to be used on site
- Describe the circumstances where fall protection is required including ladders and access equipment
- Describe the relevance of guardrails, floor coverings
- Understand and select appropriate fall protection systems travel restraint, fall restrict, fall arrest, and safety nets, rope systems and rope limitations
- Correctly identify and inspect the components within a fall protection system including 3 anchor types, 6 classes of body harnesses and connectors (lanyards)
- Understand how to determine limitations and differences between vertical and horizontal lifeline systems
- Identify the physics of a fall and how to calculate fall distance to avoid "bottoming out"
- Identify elements of a rescue plan to diminish the casualties from a fall event
- Demonstrate their understanding through a theory evaluation
- Demonstrate their practical skill through harness and full system inspection through 100% tie off
